The World Transformed organises political events. But they don't look like any you've seen before. We mix big names with the most inspiring grassroots voices. We tackle topics others overlook. We offer free tickets so that anybody can attend. And we bring together art, music and design in a way that creates a buzz. We care about creating experiences that appeal to people outside of the political bubble.A Little HistoryThe World Transformed grew out of Momentum, the social movement formed after the election of Jeremy Corbyn. Our first event was #TWT2016 - a four day festival of politics, art, music and culture that took place alongside the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, 2016.We think it went pretty well. Over 5000 people attended more than 150 workshops, talks, gigs and exhibitions, making it the largest fringe event ever. We also got a great reception from attendees, Labour MPs and the press. John Harris, writing for the Guardian, even called us "the future of the Labour party".Our Plans2017 is a critical year. Across the globe we're seeing the rise of the far right and a collapse of the centre ground. Now is the time for progressives to build a compelling narrative. Now is the time to promote exciting, future-oriented political ideas.
With this in mind, we'll be working on various projects across the year.Take Back Control was a series of events that happened in local communities across the UK following the triggering of Article 50 in March. These collaboratively organised events brought together Remain and Leave voters, shed light on the Brexit negotiations and discussed how we take back control from economic elites and establishment politicians. The World Transformed 2017 will be a week long, multi-venue festival of politics, art, music and culture alongside the Labour Party Conference in Brighton, September 2017. Think of it as like Edinburgh Fringe, only more political and even more fun.
