Basic income has steadily grown in both popularity and controversy over the past few years - with numerous experiments being carried out across the globe and advocates varying from socialists to Elon Musk. In the UK, Labour’s John McDonnell backs the idea - proposing that we trial it in certain locations should Labour come to power. What are the merits and risks of this radical notion and what do we as a left movement think about it?
