Democracy in Crisis: What Next?

The current constitutional crisis has brought issues of democratic legitimacy to the forefront. During the last month this crisis has accelerated, with the breakdown of functioning government and Johnson pitching Brexit as a battle between parliament and the people. This session will consider how the Left should respond. Should we defend parliamentary democracy and what would it mean to go beyond it? What should Labour's policies be on democratic reform? And how might the left relate to further calls for independence in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? We're in a crisis. let's step back and think it through
