Empire 2.0 – how do we end Britain’s destructive footprint on the world

British imperialism is not a thing of the past. Britain is a centre of global finance. Our corporations and policies are still exploiting countries and peoples across of the global South. This session gets to grips with the shape and scale of Empire 2.0: The nitty gritty of Britain’s role underpinning a fundamentally unjust global economy, focussing specifically on trade and corporate power. And we look at what needs to change and, what kind of global institutions we need to make this happen

Speakers

Richard Kozul-Wright is a Senior Economist at the United Nations, and Director of the Globalisation and Development Strategies division in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development

Dan Carden is the Shadow Secretary of State for International Development, and has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Liverpool Walton since 2017

Nick Dearden is Director of Global Justice Now and campaigner who helped win a new law to stop Vulture Funds from using UK courts to squeeze huge debt payments out of poor countries.
