Capitalism has changed its face. Many forms of industrial work have been exported, relocated or demolished. Organising in today's capitalism demands detailed work of research and analysis of working situations including digital work, immaterial labour, affective work (care industry) and logistical work. Based on two slide-show studies of the industries in the Thames estuary in the 1970s (Ford-Dagenham and docks) and now (2019), this workshop will involve participants in information-gathering and discussion organisation strategies for real-life activist intervention, with particular reference to the new organising technologies.
