Based on a variety of West African folk tales, and a huge box-office success in France on its release, Kirikou is an antidote to the Disney-Pixar animation monolith. Beautifully animated and masterfully scored (Youssou N’Dour), the film details the exploits tiny Kirikou’s quest to lift the curse placed upon his village by the wicked Karaba sorceress. Drawing materials and examples of African folk art will be provided throughout the screening for kids to produce their own art inspired by Kirikou’s story.
