The Battle for an Anti-War Government

Tue 24.09.19
5:30pm – 7pm

For the first time in generations we have a principled, anti-war Labour leader. His approach to foreign policy is one of the things the establishment most dislike about Jeremy Corbyn. The military, the media, the Foreign Office and some in the Labour Party itself will work hard to block any sharp change in foreign policy. This panel will discuss what a genuinely left wing foreign policy should like and how we can make sure we get it.

Richard Burgon is MP for Leeds East and Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Shadow Lord Chancellor.

Lindsey German is a founding member of the Stop the War Coalition, author and activist. Her books include ‘How a Century of War Changed the Lives of Women’

Belle Ribeiro-Addy is a Political Advisor and Chief of Staff to the Shadow Home Secretary.

Francesca Martinez is an award-winning writer, comedian and campaigner.

Stop the War is a campaign for a new, independent, foreign policy based on co-operation and diplomacy rather than the 'bomb first, talk later' approach of successive governments.
