The Prostitutes of Lyon Speak Out: Interrupted screening with DecrimNow

Date
Sun 22.09.19
Timings
6pm – 7:30pm

In 1975, hundreds of sex workers occupied one of the main churches in Lyon. Their fight against violence, persecution and for decriminalisation launched the movement we see today and was documented by Carole Roussopoulos, a Swiss documentarian of feminist struggle, in Les prostituées de Lyon parlent (The Prostitutes of Lyon Speak Out 1975). The demands made then are ones that sex workers continue to make now. Bouncing off from the material in the film and with the input of DecrimNow TWT takes a closer look at the history of organising in the sex industry.

Organisers

Decrim Now is grassroots campaign group led by sex workers, trade unionists & feminists. They fight for the decriminalisation of sex work.
