9am – 10:30am

A triple-bill spotlighting the talent, vision, and social conscience of young filmmakers. Screening ‘Deep It’ (2017), a hard-hitting drama about knife crime; ‘Laindon’ (2018), a camp sci-fi exploration of gentrification and the political landscape of the New Town; and an episode from Our Everyday Lives TV, an online series that gives young people the opportunity to explore their experiences through film. The screenings will be followed by a workshop about the power of film to transform lives and change perceptions.

Speakers

Maz Murray is a filmmaker interested in the possibility of trans satire and working class stories told through mixed up genres, comedy and Utopianism, and makes trashy queer films, performances and general ramblings under the guise of art.
