Science vs Politics: The COVID edition

Thu 17.09.20
12:30pm2PM
GMT+1 / British Summer Time
Capacity: Loading...

This session is a conversation on the interplay between science and politics, with a particular focus on the COVID-19 pandemic. What does "following the science" mean? What was the level of clarity on the science available to the government? What was the government’s attitude towards a science at odds with their political agenda? And what does this tell us about other forms of apparent science denialism (e.g. climate denialism)? Join this session to hear more.

Speakers:

Joe Buckley is a biophysicist at UCL, currently researching the entry mechanisms of COVID-19.

Ben Fernando is the Chair of Scientists for Labour and is a researcher in computational modelling at the University of Oxford.

Aysha Raza is a Neuroscientist and Labour Councillor for Ealing.
