In the aftermath of Brexit and the UK government's response to covid, support for Welsh independence- particularly among young people- has surged. How can this opposition to Westminster be mobilized towards a socialist agenda? Is independence the best possible outcome, and why not further devolution and/or ‘radical federalism’? To what extent does Welsh independence take account of the country’s race, class, regional and other diversity? And amidst all of this, does the longstanding association of Wales with the Labour party and with socialism remain secure, or does it obscure the extent to which this tradition is breaking down and being replaced by other left political currents.
