How did the avowedly secular nation created 75 years ago become a poster child of neoliberalism and fascism? Contemporary India’s political and social landscape is dominated by Hindutva (Hindu nationalism). From calls for genocide against Muslims, endemic casteist and patriarchal violence, imprisoning journalists, to consolidating India in the interest of big capital, we explore the origins of Hindutva in order to explaining its current existence both in and outside of India.
