Deller

In this lecture, artist Jeremy Deller will reflect on Britain’s national identity through two of his films: Putin’s Happy, on right-wing populism and Brexit, and Everybody in the Place, connecting 1980s and 90s British rave culture with political protest. He'll explore how popular culture can cut across boundaries of class, identity and geographic to shape politics — whether that's enabling resistance or being twisted into reactionary spectacle.
