In response to Israel’s genocide, grassroots ‘Apartheid-Free Zone’ campaigns are organising community boycotts of apartheid goods across the UK.

By mobilising households and local businesses, they're turning Palestine solidarity into everyday practice, and building brand new activists with the skills to organise their neighbours.

This workshop features organisers from Bristol, Sheffield, Cardiff and West London, sharing lessons, tools, and strategies to help you start a zone in your neighbourhood.

BAFZ started in Spring 2024. Over the last year and a half, it has steadily built to now become one of the biggest grassroots BDS campaigns globally. More than 4000 households and nearly 100 local businesses have joined the boycott, and the campaign now has 8 groups across the city running regular canvassing sessions.

was founded in the spring of 2025 and has started signing up its first shops in Fulham and Notting Hill. Around 30 businesses have joined to date.

Following Bristol's lead, SAFZ was launched in Spring 2025. We have been knocking on doors every week and now have over 750 households who have pledged not to buy Israeli goods. We have recently started asking businesses to join our boycott campaign and now have over 25 who have signed up.
