Yorkshire born Ann Wilkes studied at the RNCM, and continues to live in Manchester. She's an experienced oratorio singer and also enjoys performing contemporary music, as well as singing with the psychadelic-folk band Cobalt Chapel and trying to learn bowed psaltery.
Mackem composer, Ben Lunn, has made a name for himself as a composer who uses his art to reflect and respond to the socio-political world around him.
Mexican composer Jimena Maldonado often combines her two disciplines, photography and composition, in her work. The approach of image and sound is not only used as a dialogue between the two forms, but a way in which to influence and impact her musicians and audiences.
(1900-95) English composer Alan Bush is a cult figure who, because of his politics, faced severe backlash. Described by Hanns Eisler as a 'truly progressive man' Bush is the definitive voice of socialist politics in music.
