Leadership School 2026

18-23 August 2026, Ingestre Hall, Staffordshire

The World Transformed is proud to announce a brand new programme: The Leadership School. This will be an exciting space for socialist organisers to deepen their analysis of the current conjuncture, strengthen their political, strategic and organising skills, and build relationships with others from across Britain and the world.

At a moment of national and global upheaval, and as we lurch from one political and economic crisis to another, there is a pressing need for new leadership at every level of our movement. The Leadership School aims to tackle this head on and will provide a focused learning environment for those looking to step up and take on more responsibility within their organisations and the movement.

What you can expect at The Leadership School

The Leadership School will be a space for collective learning and self-development, grounded in a commitment to socialist political activity and the need for a rich cultural and social life. Over five days we’ll deepen our understanding of the moment we are in and identify opportunities for strategic interventions; we’ll explore key socialist theoretical frameworks, and develop practical skills in organising and strategy. We’ll do all of this side by side in one (very large!) house: living, eating and learning together. Arts, culture and outdoor activity will form part of the core programme, so we can forge the resilient connections that our movement, and this moment, requires.

Experienced facilitators will guide the cohort through the programme, and workshops, lectures and classes will be delivered by some of our movement’s most seasoned organisers and sharpest thinkers. There will be space for peer learning and self-organisation - as well as socialising, fun and rest.

After participation in the school, we expect our cohort to have:

  • A shared analysis of the current conjuncture, the balance of forces and the opportunities for action across multiple terrains
  • Increased ideological, strategic and organising understanding and skills
  • Stronger relationships amongst themselves, as a basis for future collaboration
  • An increased commitment to a socialist politics
  • An understanding of how apply what they learn in their specific organising contexts and organisations

Our venue: Ingestre Hall, Staffordshire

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for people who are committed to a socialist politics and who are looking to learn with others so they can strengthen their organising. We want all our participants to be excited about the Leadership School and what they can get out of it. It will be an enjoyable, focused space for learning and relationship-building.

The programme is best suited to people with a few years or more experience organising with a group or network, and isn’t suitable for people at the very start of their activism or who aren’t part of an organisation or network - though we are open to applications from anyone if they can demonstrate how they would benefit from the Leadership School. Your background might be in workplace or community organising, campaigning, political education, running a social centre, movement building or something else.

Cost and organisation support

The World Transformed has very limited funds, and we are entirely run by volunteers, including the team delivering the Leadership School. Each place on the five day programme will cost TWT approximately £600, including all food and accommodation, but excluding travel. The pricing options below reflect this. However, we are committed to ensuring that cost is not a barrier to participation, and are offering fully subsidised places.

We strongly encourage applicants to seek funding via their organisation or group if they can - even if it is only a partial contribution. The application form will ask you to indicate how much you can pay, so it may be useful to speak to your organisation about the possibility of support immediately. You have until 9pm 21st June to submit your final application.

If you are from an organisation that would like to sponsor attendees to the Leadership School, but do not have members to send, please contact us at [email protected]
