Vacancy: Festival Comms Coordinator
About The World Transformed

Deadline: Wednesday 23:59 April 12th.

As this is a freelance contract, our recruiting window is shorter than usual.

We are looking for a part-time Festival Communications Coordinator to join our festival staff team, work with volunteers and contractors and take the lead on all communications and marketing for the festival this year.

Why work for TWT?

  • Opportunity to gain valuable experience on an exciting project; TWT attracts significant attention from press and the world of politics, we have to innovate in comms and marketing every year to cut through and reach our audiences.
  • Wide-ranging responsibilities; you will learn and discover new skills, supported by a team who are used to overcoming challenges together and helping one another improve.
  • Help build left power in a particularly urgent moment, and build relationships across the left ecology - social movements, trade unions, the Labour Party and the media.
  • Work with comrades/like minded people who care about trying to bring the left together and provide engaging political education and arts.
  • Putting on TWT equips you with relevant skills for other left-wing orgs; previous staff have gone on to take on leading roles working for trade unions, NGOs, MPs and more.

Location: TWT’s office is based in Bethnal Green, in London, and some in-person working will be required. However we welcome applications from outside London and are open to options for partial remote working.

Pay and hours: Freelance contract of 78 days between May-November 2023 @ £110 per day (avg. 3 days per week, but distribution of days across this period can be slightly flexible according to preference and in alignment with the needs of the organisation - August and September are the busiest period before the festival itself)

Start date: May 2022 (as soon as possible)

Essential dates: 6-11 October (the festival in Liverpool is 7-10 October)

There is scope for the number of days to change, dependent on funding and requirements, but 78 days from May to mid-October is the minimum required.

TWT is a grassroots organisation and operates around volunteers - so you might be required to work some evenings and weekends!
